How much will my project cost?

Home extension costs can vary significantly depending on the size of the extension, structural considerations, hidden damage within the home etc. In the past, Refresh has carried out home extensions that fall within a range of $90,000 - $350,000+. If you have a budget you would like to stay within, Refresh will work with you to create a feasible design and plan that works for you and your lifestyle.

Will Refresh take care of any required council consent applications?

Yes. Refresh will take care of the application process required for building consent and, where necessary, resource consent. Building consent is generally required for any structural changes made to homes, while resource consent is required for projects which might affect the surrounding environment, land and neighbourhood.  

Should I opt for a same-level extension or second storey extension?

Same-level extensions are generally the most affordable option, as structural weight-bearing considerations need to be taken into account for second storey additions. However, if you live on a small section, a second storey addition might be the most feasible option. The third option, and likely most costly, is a basement extension or conversion. It will require extensive excavation - but could be well worth it.
