Storage in the Ensuite

If space permits, the most convenient way to store men’s and women’s grooming products is to keep them entirely separate. This could be achieved using tall units attached to the wall or creating pull-out drawers at the end of the bath. In smaller spaces, this may not always be possible. Allocating drawers underneath the basin for specified personal products is the next best option. Another great way to hide products is by using mirror cabinets, as the internal shelving provides adequate storage space while giving any bathroom area a seamless and tidy finish.

Double basins

A double basin has become more popular in areas with large spaces; however, it is not always necessary. In smaller areas it is best to have a single basin and allow increased bench space surrounding it.

Setting the Mood

The most important aspect of an ensuite is creating a space to escape. Establishing a relaxed, calm atmosphere is a key component to a successful ensuite.  The average ensuite stands at around 2.5m so space isn’t something most of us have in abundance. Therefore, to create the illusion of space, it is best to use a single colour scheme in white, off-white or neutral colours and to make use of mirrors and decorative spot lights wherever possible. A large mirror covering one wall can instantly create the feeling of space, whilst a window can bring in all important natural light.

Alternatively, using large tiles on the floor or wall can make a small room seem larger.  Furthermore, using the same flooring throughout your ensuite – including your shower - can also add perceived space.  Surround your shower in frameless glass to complete the transformation.
Using inwall cisterns for your toilet, such as Caroma Invisi II allows you to set a premium presentation and give not only the visual perception of more space (with less clutter in the room) but also more space in reality since the projection from the wall to the front of the toilet is less than traditional toilet suites with exposed cisterns.
